On Tuesday, the government extended the last date for filing Income Tax Return in this flood-hit state of Kerala. It is to be remembered that extension is done only for Kerala State.
“In view of the disruption caused due to severe floods in Kerala, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) hereby further extends the due date for furnishing Income Tax returns from August 31, 2018 to September 15, 2018 for all Income Tax assesses in the state of Kerala, who were liable to file their Income Tax returns by August 31, 2018”.
Last week, the government had also extended the last date of filing GST (goods and services tax) summary sales returns or GSTR-3B for the month of July to August 24. The earlier due date was August 20.
For Kerala, Mahe (Puducherry) and Kodagu (Karnataka), the GSTR-3B for the month of July can be filed by October 5 and the returns for the month of August can now be filed by October 10.
Also, the deadline for GSTR-1 (July-September) for taxpayers with turnover up to Rs 1.5 crore has been extended November 15.
For those with turnover above Rs 1.5 crore, the new deadline for filing GSTR-1 for July is October 5. And, the last date of filing GSTR-1 for the month of August is now October 10.
